The Front Page 0 Vs 5 C.B Archers

The Front Page hosted The Antrim Road Cab Company Sponsored C.B Archers were they were hoping to make home advantage count and get some points in the league table after a poor start in week 1. Unfortunately they came up against strong opposition in the shape of the Archers who were fired into an early lead when Kevin O’Reilly Snr started with a 16 darter and follow that up with a 120 finish in 21 darts for the second and closed the game out for a 3-0 win over Jimmy Johnston. Big John Black gave Fionton Carson a fright but the Young Archers fired back to win his game 2-3.

Francis Black could find an answer to Gary O’Reilly as he went down 0-3 with Gaz checking out on 114 in a cool 21 darter. Kieran Adams went 1 up against Kevin Mezza with a super 50 finish but Big Mez closed the game out taking 3 games on the spin. Kevin O’Reilly completed the route with a 0-3 win over Michael Magennis.

League 3

C.B Archers 5 Vs 0 Village Tavern

The C.B club was the place to be this week as the early pace setters clashed with 2nd in the league the Village Tavern. There was no less than 3 former NBDL Individual Champions in attendance with Jim & Joe Lee turning out for the Tavern & Kevin O'Reilly Snr for the Antrim Road Cab Company sponsored C.B Archers. Gary O'Reilly was first up for the Archers as he came from a leg down to get the nod over Joe Lee. Big brother Kevin O'Reilly and daddy dearest Kevin O'Reilly Snr followed up with 2 solid 3-0 wins over John McDonald and Dee Graham. Kevin Mezza raced into a 2-0 lead with the aid of a super 117 out shot in an 18 darter. Mark McAuley soon levelled the game at 2-2 before Big Mez closed the game out with a double 10. Young Finton Carson showed his fighting spirit when he came from 2-1 down against Jim Lee.

League 4

McGrath's Bar 2 Vs 3 C.B Archers

Week 4 of the Hunky Dorys North Belfast Dart league saw McGrath’s Bar entertaining the Antrim Road Cab Company sponsored CB Archers. McGrath’s were one down straight of the bat as they only had 4 men this week. Fintoin Carson from the CB Archers was the lucky man who got the bye. Kevin O'Reilly Snr found himself in unfamiliar surroundings as the McGrath’s Bars Ray Clarke went 1 up. Big Kev has years of experience and they all counted as he took the next 3 legs on the bounce. Kevin Jnr started off were Snr left off with some solid darts in a good 3-0 win over Mickey Costello. This was the second home game in a row for the McGrath’s boy and the second time they found themselves 3-0 down. Just as before the McGrath’s boys fought till the end when Don Curry was to hot to handle for Kevin Mezza and Billy Brooks battered Gaz O'Reilly in two good 3-1 wins to take the first points of the Archers and earn themselves 2 points which keeps McGrath‘s Bar in third place in the league.

League 5

The Hole In The Wall Gang 1 Vs 4 C.B Archers

The Hole In The Wall bar in Baltic Avenue must be one of North Belfast's best kept secrets. I have to say that as of yet this is the best looking and tidiest bar I have been in around the Antrim Road Area.

Now back to the darts. There was no need for a taxi from the Antrim Road Cab Company who sponsors the CB Archers this week as they walked around the corner to the Hole In The Wall. Fiontain Mulgrew was up first for the Gang but he came up against the old head of Kevin O'Reilly Snr who gave a master class display in the art of finishing in his 3-0 win which consisted of 3X32 finishes 2 (1 dart) double 16s and for good measure he hit two double 8s(with his last two darts). John McKee came up against Kevin O'Reilly Jnr who banged in a maximum 180 and missed double 16 for a 102 finish (no doubt his Da would have hit it) straight after in a 20 dart leg on his way to another 3-0 win. Eoin Matthews couldn't halt the Archers as Gary O'Reilly fired them further ahead with a 20 dart leg of his own in a good 3-0 win. The Gangs star man Joe Page got a good 3-0 win for the gang when he over came young Fiontain Carson in a real ding dong battle that young Carsy was unlucky not to get a score on the board as he had chances in every leg. The last game of the night saw Malachai Shannon lose out 0-3 against Kevin Mezza.

League 6

C.B Archers 4 Vs 1 Pheonix Flames

There was a rumour going around this week that Sean Paul Saunders decided to head behind the sofa as he was feed up of being beaten up on the dartboard. As I say this was a rumour and I have no idea if there is any truth in it. Gary O'Reilly got the Archers under way as he shoot into an early 2-0 lead before Stephen Donaldson stole the show with his first ever Maximum 180 (see photo) but the excitement got the better of him as Gaz closed the game out 3-0. Kevin O'Reilly Snr showed everybody how to play on the 19's with scores of 134,133,114,133 and a hand full of 95's as he eclipsed Ray Grant. Kevin Mezza made hard work of his 3-0 win over the Flames debutant Paddy O'Donnell and Kevin O'Reilly Jnr hand another good 3-0 win for the Archers over Vincey Donaldson. Ciaran McAlorum save the Flames from the white wash as he came good as he beat the Archers young prospect Fiontian Carson by three legs to one.

League 7

C.B Archers 2 Vs 3 St Malachy's Old Boys A

With both teams playing six and winning six somebody’s O had to go and the Antrim Road Cab Company Sponsored CB Archers were hoping to make home advantage count but it was the Fortwilliam lads who got revenge for there 3-A-Side final defeat. John Doyle raced into an early 2-0 lead before Kevin O'Reilly checkout on 111 and then drew level but Doyler battled on and got the winning double to give the Old Boys an early lead. Francie (Secret Weapon) Mezza gave the Archers a fighting chance when he over came Steven McGuigian in another tight contest 3-2. Stevie Flood put the Old Boys back in front with a fantastic display of arrows over Kevin O'Reilly Snr. Gary O'Reilly squared the game once again ignoring Ciaran Smiths entry into the NBDL 180 club. Kevin Mezza went one up before being blown out of the water by a great fighting display from the Paddy Cassidy to send the Old Boys singing all the way back up the Antrim Road.

                              League 8

St Malachy's Old Boys B 2 Vs 3 CB Archers.

St Malachy's Old Boys B team (pictured) entertained the Antrim Road Cab Company sponsored CB Archers at Fortwilliam this week and Kevin O'Reilly Jnr kick off for the Archers with a good 0-3 win over Mark McAlinden with the aid of a super 19 dart leg. Younger brother Gary (yes he is the better looking of the two) continued were Kev left off as he raced out of the blocks had a quick stop and became the newest member of the NBDL 180 Club and continued on his way to a fantastic 15 dart leg (the lowest leg of darts so far this season) in a good 0-3 win over John Hastings. Marty Bannon took a leg off Kevin Mezza but Big Mez fought back to give the Archers another win by 1-3. Gavin McGuigan got the Old Boys going with a hard fought 3-1 win over Marty Hotstuff Curry and Terry McCabe got an extra point for the Old Boys with a good 3-0 win over an out of sorts Kevin O'Reilly Snr.

                                        League 9

                         C.B Archers 5 v 0 Front Page

There was no need for an Antrim Road Cab Company Cab for the CB Archers as they entertain the Front Page in the great surroundings of the Christian Brothers Past Pupils Union Club Rooms.
Kevin O'Reilly Jnr got the Archers up and running with the aid of a couple 24 darters in a good 3-0 win over David Begley Snr. Kevin O'Reilly Snr had a fight on his hands as debutant Liam Ward hit seven 100+ scores in a great 5 leg game that to be honest Kevin Snr nicked with a double 5. Fontana Carson returned with a bag after missing a couple of weeks with a Man of the Match performance in a good 3-1 win over the more experienced Kieran Adams. Kevin Mezza got a good 3-0 win over David Begley Jnr and Gary O'Reilly completed a good shift for the Archers with another 3-0 win
.

                                         League 10

                      Village Tavern 3 v 2 C.B Archers

The Archers gathered there arrows together and headed up the mountain this week with the aid of there sponsor the Antrim Road Cab Company. Dee Graham put the Tavern one up with a handy two dart 100 finish in a tight 3-2 win over Fiontan Carson who chipped in with a 23 darter. Jim Lee join the 180 club as he became the third person this season to hit the maximum against Gary O'Reilly and in all three instances Gaz has won 3-0 and included a tasty 19 dart leg to draw the Archers level. Kevin O'Reilly Jnr doesn't like to be out done by his sibling so he followed up with a 3-0 win of his own to put the Archers ahead. Mark McAuley over came Kevin Mezza and a 0-1 deficit to win 3-1 with an 81 finish in a sweet 24 dart leg which put the Tavern back on level terms. The final game of the night was a contest between two ex NBDL Individual Champions in which Joe Lee rolled back the years with finishes of 78 & 98 and a 21 dart leg in a good 3-0 win of Kevin O'Reilly Snr and became the toast of the Village Tavern.
Man of the Match Joe Lee Village Tavern.

                                       League 11

                      C.B Archers 4 v 1 McGrath's Bar

League leaders The Antrim Road Cab Company Sponsored C.B Archers were looking to bounce back after there defeat in the Village Tavern last week and they had the task of entraining 3rd placed McGrath’s Bar in what could be a tricky encounter.

Young Fiontan Carson opened up with a 24 dart leg for the Archers as he overcame an out of sorts Mickey Costello by 3 legs to 1. Kevin O’Reilly Snr found a bit of form as he accounted for Billy Brooks in a good 3-0 win. Kevin Mezza was slow outta the gates as Jap Craig raced into a 2-0 lead which included a handy 23 darter. Big Mez started to stare and made a game of it but run out steam and Jap held on to win 2-3 in a game that included 12 scores of 100+. Kevin O’Reilly Jnr sealed another point for the Archers as he overcame Don Curry by 3-1. Gary O’Reilly wasn’t at his best this week but he still managed a 22 dart leg in a good 3-0 win against the high scoring Jim Boardman.

Archers Still Aiming High.

The C.B Archers were looking to get back to winning ways after losing out in the Edmund Rice Cup. They had a good 3-0 win in the Semi-Finals against the Hole in the Wall Gang and they got to do it all again in the league this week.

C.B Archers 4 v 1 The Hole In The Wall Gang

With Kevin O'Reilly Jnr missing thru illness (a dose of the runs meant he couldn't leave the bathroom) it meant that the Antrim Road Cab Company sponsored CB Archers would have to call upon there secret weapon Francie Mezza who was out of sorts as the Gangs Joe Page who put in a good shift and ran out a comfortable 3-0 winner. Kevin O'Reilly Snr levelled for the Archers with a good 3-0 win over James Rodgers. Fiontan Carson put the Archers into the lead with a good 3-1 win of Eoin Matthews. Gary O'Reilly sealed the win for the Archers (with the aid of 6x100+ scores and a two dart 60 checkout) with another good display in a 3-0 win over John McKee. Big Kevin Mezza was give a scare as Finty Mulgrews finishing was superb with a 63 and a super 104 finish before Mez won a real 5 leg thriller.

Man of the Match: Gary O'Reilly.

Archers to hot for the Flames

                      Phoenix Flames 1 v 4 C.B Archers

The Antrim Road Cab Company sponsored C.B Archers nipped down the Antrim Road to take on the Phoenix Flames. Like I said last week this is a tricky place to try and come away with a win and maximum points and after a good showing last week the Flames would be a tough nut to crack.

Vincey Donaldson started with a 140 and took the first game against Fiontan Carson who replied with a 23 dart leg. Vincey used all his experience however to win this one 3-1 and give the Flames an early lead. He was the sole winner for the Flames as the Archers O’Reilly Express took control of the game with 3 good 3-0 wins for Kevin Snr Kevin Jnr and Gary O’Reilly (23&24 Darts plus a 64 Finish). Against Ray Grant, Ciaran McAlurom and Dee Smyth. The last game of the night was the one everyone wanted to see between Sean Paul Saunders and Kevin Mezza. Sean Paul was the width of a wire away from taking and early lead before Mez sneaked in with a double two. A second double two soon followed before a great 72 finish sealed the win and four points for the Archers. The highlight of the night came after the darts when the cling film was removed from the sandwiches. I told the Archers weren’t to happy as there were no egg and onion. Some food for thought.

Mez Hits Bonner With 180 In Cracker.

The Hunky Dorys North Belfast Dart League hasn't been running that long and in this short time there have already been some fierce rivalries created and none bigger than the top two teams in the current league table. The C.B Archers and St Malachy's Old Boys A. The Archers claimed the 3-A-Sides Shield beating the Old Boys in the final. The Old Boys replied by beating the Archers in the league and then to add salt to the wounds they defeated the Archers in the Final of the Edmund Rice Cup. All these games went right to the wire and this one would be no different.

CB Archers. 3
St Malachy's Old Boys A. 2

The first to players to toe the Oche were the Old Boys Stevie Flood and the Archers Old head Kevin O'Reilly Snr. The old head showed he still has what it takes to mix it up with some top drawer finishing which included a 114,86 and 64 in a good 3-1 win to give the Archers an early lead. Ciaran Smith levelled matters with a good 3-0 win over an out of sorts Gary O'Reilly. The next game was an absolute cracker when Kevin Mezza fired in his second 180 of the year followed by a 140 and ended in 21 darts against Mick Bonner who fired back with a fantastic 14 dart leg which included a super 81 finish. Big Mez finished of the game with a double 8 in 22 darts to give the Archers a slim lead. Kevin O'Reilly Jnr just got the nod over Paddy Cassidy by the odd leg to secure the win for the Archers and inflict the first league defeat on the Old Boys. The Birthday Boy Fiontan Carson took an early 1-0 lead before the new player of the year table leader John Doyle fired back to earn a consolation point for the Old Boys.

Preliminery Round

Village Tavern 0 Vs 3 C.B Archers

The first two players to the board were John (McDuck) McDonald and Gary (Gaz) O’Reilly (yes he is the good looking brother). This was a tight contest but Gaz doesn’t mess around on the double and put the Archers 1-0 up. David Graham was next up for the Village Tavern against Gaz’s Big Brother Kevin O’Reilly Jnr. Kevin wasn’t gona be out done by Gaz and finish with a neat 62 finish in a great 21 dart leg. Uncle Mick O’Reilly who is now turning out for the Village Tavern did his best to get the Village Tavern a score on the board but Martin (Hotstuff) Currie took his time warming up and when he did he hit that all important double.

Kevin O’Reilly Snr & Kevin Mezza (Archers) & Mark McAuley & Jimmy Lagan were all unused.

First Round

Front Page 0 Vs 3 C.B Archers

The O’Reilly’s were the driving force once again for the Archers as Gaz O’Reilly finished his game against the very experienced Kerien Adams with a great 2 dart 60 finish in 20 darts. Once Again big brother Kevin O’Reilly had a hard act to follow and once again he didn’t disappoint with a super 94 finish in 21 darts against Stevie Dee Snr. Next up was daddy dearest Kevin O’Reilly Snr and he did what he had to do to get past J Rafferty. M Mc Guinness and J Johnston looked on for the Front Page as did Marty Currie and Kevin Mezza for the Archers.

Semi-Finals

Phoenix Flames 0 Vs 3 C.B Archers

The Flames were all fired up and rearing to go but the Archers were out to shot them down. First up for the Flames was Stephen Donaldson but he came up against a red hot Gaz O’Reilly who fired in a big 140 along the way to his double 10 finish. Next up was Vincey Donaldson against Hotstuff Marty Currie who still wasn’t firing on all cylinders but he just managed to do enough to get the nod and put the Archers two up. Ray Grant was hoping to keep the Flames roaring but was unlucky as Kevin Mezza chipped in with an 18 darter to send the Archers shooting into the final. Ciaran McAloram, Sean Paul Saunders, Kevin O’Reilly Snr and Jnr were all left watching.

Final

C.B Archers 3 Vs 2 Caulfields

This one was set up to be a ding dong affair. The C.B Archers haven’t beaten the Caulfields in over three years and Caulfields hand no intentions of changing there winning streak now.

They raced into a 2-0 lead when Patrick O’Neill stole the first leg from under Kevin Mezza’s nose with a super 94 finish. Seamus Roberts followed suit as he beat up Kevin O’Reilly Jnr. Manual Tully was looking to get the win for Caulfields but he came up against Marty (Hotstuff) Currie who wasn’t going down with out a fight and pulled one back for the Archers. Kevin O’Reilly Snr pulled the Archers level with a good win over Stevie Dee Jnr. Gary O’Reilly banged in a 140 against Micky Grady who duly replied with a 121 of his own. You could have heard a pin drop in the hall when Gaz let fly at his double and once it landed in the double ten bed you couldn’t hear yourselves think as the Archers completed a great come back and to take the first honours on offer in the Hunky Dory's North Belfast Dart League.

3-A-Sides

Village Tavern

This week saw the entire Hunky Dorys North Belfast Dart League descend on the Village Tavern Ligoneil for the first ever 3-A-Side Dart Competition in the History of the North Belfast Dart League (if anybody knows any different then please let me know thought the league website(www.tnbdl.webs.com). The set up was top class and we were all looked after like darting royalty. The Tavern had plenty of beer promotions and there was also some lovely grub led out for us all. Even thro we ran late on there wasn’t one complaint in the house as the Hunky Dorys North Belfast Dart League and darts in North Belfast were the true winners on the night.

I said last week that we were in for a cracking night of darts and I wasn’t wrong. There was a feast of darts on show with the highlights being Kevin Mezza (C.B Archers) and Rory Kavanagh (St Malachy’s Old Boys) joining the Hunky Dorys North Belfast Dart League 180 Club and Kevin O’Reilly Snr starting a new club when he hit a 171 (three treble 19’s). Joe Page also chipped in with the highest finish of the night with a super 115 checkout finish.

Other good finishes came in the shape of Jap Craig (McGrath’s) who finished 89 on the Bull, Billy Brooks Jnr (McGrath’s) had two good checkouts of 89 & 65, My old mucker John Hastings (St Malachy’s) hit a nice 75 finish, Gary O’Reilly (C.B Archers) hit route 66 (and also had a couple of 140’s) and his daddy dearest Kevin O’Reilly Snr (C.B Archers) finished of 62.

There was a new (Ciaran) O’Reilly turning out in the league for the Village Tavern B team this week and he didn’t look to happy when his Uncle Mick (O’Reilly) got the better of him by 2-1 in a tight game.

Sean-Paul Saunders finally got a win when he collected first price in the ballot.

Big Mez missed 9 darts at a double at they were costly as Doyle nicked the 1st leg and didn't look back as he raced to a 2-0 lead and put the Old Boys 1up. However Kevin Snr held on and took the next leg to book the Archers a Semi-Final place.

Final

McGrath’s Bar 2 v 3 C.B Archers.

McGrath’s hadn’t dropped a game in this competition so far and at one point it looked like it was going to be the perfect Cup run with Mickey Costello getting past Kevin O’Reilly Snr 2-1 and Billy Brooks just squeezing past Kevin Mezza 2-0. McGrath’s had one hand on the cup at this point before the Archers started to fire on all cylinders. Kevin O’Reilly Jnr (23 darts) had a good 2-0 win over Jim Boardman. Marty ‘Hotstuff’ Currie (23 darts) got past Jap Craig 2-0 and Gary O’Reilly Jnr (23 darts) also battled hard with another 2-0 win to win the beautiful McElhatton’s Cup.

 C.B Archers 5 v 0 St Malachy’s Old Boys B

After a hard fought win over St Mal’s Old Boys A team last week there stalemates the Old Boys B-Team were hoping to do the A-Team a favour but the Antrim Road Cab Company sponsored C.B Archers (pictured) were determined to not slip up against the Old Boys B-Team.

First to toe the oche for the Archers was Gary (Gaz) O’Reilly who took on Steven McGuigan from the Old Boys. Gaz put in a good shift this week which included 22 and 23 dart legs in a good 3-0 win to put the Archers one up. Kevin O’Reilly Jnr followed suit as he faced Marty Bannon. Kev raced into an early 2-0 lead with a good 60 checkout before Bannon nicked the 3rd leg with a handy double 2 before Kev closed the game out for a handy 3-1 win. Paul Reynolds thru well in his debut game to win 3-0 and he chipped in with a 24 dart leg and a handy 56 finish against the Old Boys veteran Rory Kavanagh. Kevin O’Reilly Snr had a couple of good finishes (56 & 69) in his 3-0 win over Paul (Mucker) Cummins. Gavin McGuigan was looking to spoil the Archers party as he took a 2-1 lead over Kevin Mezza and really should have won it 3-1 before Big Mez hit a nice 73 finish (14 X19 D1) and finished the game with a nice 22 darter to seal all 5 points for the Archers.

Archers go six points clear.

Hunky Dory’s North Belfast Dart League entered round 15 in the league and this week was no different than any other week as there were four hard fought out matches as within the North Belfast Dart League every game won earns points for your team. As we pass the half way point in the league it’s still mathematically possible for any team to lift the highly sought after N.B.D.L Trophy. As always there are always thrills and spills and this week was no different as every game had something.

Archers Defiant against Battlers McGrath's.

McGrath's Bar 2 v 3 CB Archers

The C.B Archers we welcomed to McGrath's Bar this week with open arms in a repeat of the McEllhattons Cup Final.

With Billy Brooks being in Benidorm this week (and before you ask no he's not the new gay guy in the TV show Billy was just on holiday) it gave Dee Jordan his chance to impress but he came up against Kevin O'Reilly Jnr who showed a solid display of darts in a good 3-0 win.
Sibling rivalry is a wonderful thing and younger brother Gary O'Reilly show up his big brother (again) with a 180 and his second 120 finish of the season. The next game was a hot encounter as Don Curry faced Martin Currie. What a game with 12 ton plus scores and Martin joining the NBDL 180 club and he squeezed in a lovely 17 dart leg in a 5 legged battle Martin just came out on top with a tight 3-2 win. Jim Boardman showed what McGraths are all about as he came from 2-0 down to register a great 3-2 come back win over Kevin O'Reilly Snr. Jap craig followed suit also coming from 2-1 down to seal two valuable points for McGrath's against Kevin Mezza.

- 2010 - 2011- N.B.D.L Pairs - 29th March 2011 -

- Hunky Dorys North Belfast Dart League & North Belfast Trophy Room Dart League -

Beale & Wylie Crown New Pairs Champions.

This weeks report comes to you direct from room 8 in the Allen Ward of the Belfast Royal Hospital for Sick Children and before the wise cracks start no I'm not ill and I sure that anybody who has had to spend the time in hospital with a sick child will know that there is a lot of waiting around to be done and boredom quickly sets in. Therefore I thought I'd use this time to my advantage and this column and say thank you to all the doctors and nurses who looked after my wee woman who by the time your reading this should be well on the mend. So do me a favour and don't tell the misses. So back to the darts,

For the second week in a row the Hunky Dorys North Belfast Dart League & The North Belfast Trophy Room Dart League join together in the Shamrock Sports and Social Club in Ardyone to contest the Finals of the New NBDL Pairs Competition and the remaining 16 teams were ready to fight it out for the New North Belfast Dart League Pairs Trophy which was supplied by The Trophy Room who did a great job with the engraving of the NBDL logo on the cup. With 16 teams left there had to be a winner and the winners of any competition always need a little luck along the way and Keith Beale & Conor Wylie along with some great darts hand that little bit of luck along the way to claiming the New NBDL Pairs Trophy.

Last 16 Board 1

The night started well for John McDonald and Dee Graham who squeezed past Rory Kavanagh & Chris Benson on a tight 2-1 scoreline.

Marty McDonnald & Stevie Flood gave the St Malachy's crowd something to cheer about as the beat the team of C McMullan & C Connor 2-0

Colly McPeake & Mark Irvine played well enough to get past the Hole in the Wall Gangs Joe Page & J McKee on another tight 2-1 win.

One of my picks to do well were the Shamrocks Team of Sean Moran & Micky Grady who came up against stalemates Keith Beale & Conor Wylie who gain a narrow 2-1 victory with a handy 18 dart leg.

Board 2.

Paddy Cassidy & John Milne were unlucky as they drew out stalemates John Doyle & Ciaran Smith who wasted little time in racing home 2-0 winners with the help of a handy 21 dart leg.

Mark McAuley & Joe Lee lost a 1-0 lead to Eddy Donnelly & Davey McCusker who fire off two quick legs in 19 & 20 darts.

John Sherry & Mark McVeigh put out Stephen Donaldson and Ray Grants Flames as they won a hot contest by 2 legs to 1.

Brian George & John Flanagan came up against another one of my picks the CB Archers Gary O'Reilly and Martin Currie who played steady darts to progress in a good 2-0 win.

Quarter-Finals.

There was no time wasted in the Quarter-finals as all the games were won by the same score of 2-0. However I'm pretty sure that the beaten quarter-finalist found some comfort with there £20 payout for reaching the last 8.

Semi-Finals.

With 4 teams remaining it was a little funny as out of the 4 teams we had 2 teams from the Hunky Dorys North Belfast Dart League & 2 from The North Belfast Trophy Room Dart League. I as an observer was thinking to myself that it would be fitting that there be a team from each league to contest the final. Unfortunately the Shamrock teams
had other ideas.

Board 1.

John Dolye & Ciaran Smith took on Eddy Donnelly & Davey McCusker who wasted little time as the reeled of 20&21 dart legs to book there place in the final in a good 2-0 win.

Semi-Finals Board 2

I said last week that if Gary O'Reilly and Martin Currie got there act together then they could go far and anybody that knows Martin Currie would bet against him hitting double top with two darts in his hand but tonight he did and Conor Wylie took his chance and the double to make the final an all North Belfast Trophy Room Dart League and Shamrock Final.

Semi-Finals

Board 1

1. J Doyle & C Smith 0 V 2 E Donnelly & D McCusker

Board 2

1. K Beale & C Wylie 2 V 1 G O'Reilly & M Currie

The Final

The final would be best of 5 legs and I think that on paper the team of Donnelly & McCusker looked the stronger. Darts is a funny game and doubles is even funnier as its a bit topsy-turvy Beale & Wylie raced into a 2-0 lead and with the topsy-turvy way in doubles Conor Wylie check out on double 3 to win the title of 2010-2011 NBDL Pairs Champions and I've no doubt that the new trophy will take pride of place in the Shamrock Trophy Cabinet beside the Old Pairs Trophy.

Final result.
1. E Donnelly & D McCusker 0 V 3 K Beale & C Wylie

Now I'd like to take the opportunity on behalf of the Hunky Dorys North Belfast Dart League & The North Belfast Trophy Room Dart League to express our thanks to the Shamrock Sports and Social Club for there generous sponsorship and use of there facilities and club rooms. Also a big thank you has to go to the board marshals referees and markers over the two nights and also just to let everyone connected to the league know that the Hunky Dorys North Belfast Dart League & The North Belfast Trophy Room Dart League raised a total of £100.00 for St Malachy's Music School. Well done to Kieran Adams who picked his own ticket and winning the Ballot.

McGrath‘s Looking Good.

McGrath’s Bar was the place to be this week as the McGrath’s Grand Prix kick off for the Hunky Dorys North Belfast Dart League teams and as it’s the only Double in Double out competition in the league there were a few nerves going around the bar.

McGrath’s Bar 3 v 1 C.B Archers

The McGrath’s Bar team used there home advantage to gain there first victory of the C.B Archers in a good 3-1 win. Mickey Costello used his experience and got of on his double without much effort as he got past Gary O’Reilly 2-0. Billy B-Team Brooks followed suit as he defeated the Archers debutant Henry Carson by the same score line. The Archers Kevin O’Reilly replied for the Archers with a good 2-0 win over Jap Craig. Kevin O’Reilly Snr knows he should have done better as he had 6 darts at a double to go one up but Don “Hotstuff” Curry battled on and took a 2-0 win and McGrath’s into the semi’s to the delight of his team-mates and the watching crowd. With Big Kevin Mezza and Dee Jordan waiting in the wings who know what would have happened if it had gone all the way.

Man of the Match Kevin O’Reilly Jnr C.B Archers.
